Job Description
Provides direct care to patients on an assigned unit using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Functions and performs all technical aspects of nursing care within the framework of established policies and procedures of Sandhills Regional Medical Center. Responsible for managing care of assigned patients and guiding and directing the activities of ancillary staff. May function as charge nurse.
Requirements
Education: Must be a graduate of a school of nursing and be currently licensed as a registered nurse in North Carolina. Must have accurate and reasonable speed in performance of functions. Maintenance of knowledge of correct practices - exhibits good physical and emotional health. Shall behave in accordance with the code of ethics of the Nursing Profession. The Staff Nurse shall have knowledge of nursing theory and techniques and possess integrity, initiative, and flexibility. ACLS preferred upon hire or must complete within 90 days of hire. BLS required upon employment. BLS/ACLS required for continued employment. Experience: No experience required for Medical/Surgical Unit. Six to twelve months telemetry experience preferred. New nurse orientation is provided by the staff education department. Additional orientation for new nurses is provided on the nursing unit utilizing the structured new nurse orientation manual. One years Medical/Surgical experience required for the Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit and Mental Health Unit.
